The lifetime appointment of Supreme Court Justices in the United States has been a subject of significant debate. While the Constitution doesn’t explicitly promise “lifetime appointments,” it does state that judges shall hold office during “good behavior” in modern times a Justice could sit on the Court for 30 or more years and affect the balance of liberal and conservative views. Should they be given limited terms and if so, how long and can they be reappointed? Why should we change or stay the same?
